Cartoon Workshop at Express Yourself Studios

Express Yourself Studios will host a Cartoon Workshop for children ages 7-12 on Friday, June 25 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Workshop participants will create a comic strip featuring a superhero/heroin of their own concept. Looking at examples from current cartoons such as Batman, Spiderman, Ben 10, Pokémon, Bakugan, Sponge Bob, Looney Tunes, and more, children will learn the fundamentals of cartooning and graphic story-telling, along with its earliest beginnings and influence upon the art world at large. Pizza will be included and the budding cartoonist will leave with a four-panel comic strip to bring home at the end of the workshop. $20 per person. Reserve your space today.

Express Yourself Studios’ Summer Art Camp 2010 Enrollment is Underway

MAPLEWOOD, NJ May 11, 2010 - Plan early for Summer Break, Express Yourself Studios located at 1912 Springfield Avenue in Maplewood offers a Summer Art Camp for Children ages 5 -12. The Summer schedule is now available and applications are being accepted. Summer Camp runs June 28 - August 27. Program details are as follows:

Children Ages 5-8 meet 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Children Age 9-12 meet 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm. Express Yourself Studios Summer Art camp offers children the opportunity to experiment with a variety of media in a fun and supportive environment. Children will be encouraged to use their imagination freely.

Campers will create 10-15 art projects per week. The projects will be inspired by a different Master Artist. Children will learn about the Artists through discussions, examples, and art-making. Projects will include painting, drawing, mixed media collage, sculpture, printmaking and paper mache. An exhibition and reception featuring students’ artwork will be held at the conclusion of each week.
