Express Yourself Studios; located at 1877 Springfield Avenue in Maplewood will host its 6th annual “Celebrate Dr. King: Explore the Dream Through Art” workshop, January 20 . Children ages 4-12 are welcome to learn about Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement through art. Children will create art exploring the themes of Peace, Equality and Friendship.

All participants are asked to bring a canned or boxed non-perishable food item to be donated to the Wallace Chapel Food Pantry (a service of Wallace Chapel Church) in Summit, NJ. The workshop fee is $20, one hour of studio time and all materials included. Join us between 11:00 am – 2:00 pm (on the hour).

Express Yourself Studios located at 1877 Springfield Avenue in Maplewood hosts "Family Art Night" every Saturday 4:00pm-6:00pm. Families join us for 2-hours of studio time, one (1) guided art project, pizza, beverages and all materials required to facilitate the workshop.

Participants will create paintings inspired by Master Artists using a mix of mediums (acrylics, watercolor, and pastels) and other projects using a myriad of materials (clay & paper collages).

The Summer Art Workshop is open to children ages 5-12. Children will experiment with a variety of media in a fun and supportive environment. Kid’s classes include: Crafty Toddlers, Crafty Kids, Mixed Media, Drawing & Painting, Sculpture and Cartoon Workshops. Teen classes include Art4ReAL and drop-in studio sessions. In Town Over the Winter Break, February 14 -22? Join Express Yourself Studios for Our Winter Break Art Workshop!

Express Yourself Studios; located at 1877 Springfield Avenue in Maplewood will host a Winter Break Art Workshop February 14-22, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm for children age 4-10. Participants will create paintings using a mix of mediums (acrylics, watercolor, and pastels) and other projects using a myriad of materials (clay & paper collages). We’ll be inspired by artists such as Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Paul Cezanne, Georgia O’Keeffe and many others.

All materials are included, 3-hours of studio time. The workshop Fee: $150 for the week (February 18 – 22) or $45 per child/per day; $40 per day if registering 2 or more children or 2 or more days.

“Express Your Emotions” with Children’s Book Author Tanji Dewberry February 9, 11:00am - 3:00pm, Join Us RSVP!

Emotions are something we all have but are seldom talked about, especially with children. New author, Tanji Dewberry, seeks to change this dynamic with her debut children's book, Oh Fiddlesticks! Inspired by the coping skills she learned to help her son, Oh Fiddlesticks! strives to begin a healthy dialogue between adults and children about how to combat negative emotions.

Express Yourself Studios and Ms. Dewberry will host a day of “Express Your Emotions” children will use art and Oh Fiddlesticks! as a guide to share their emotions.

Children will be given a complimentary, blank cover of Oh Fiddlesticks! to exercise their artistic skills. In addition, during this free event children will meet and hear from the author during a book reading to be held each hour.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day “Celebrate Dr. King: Explore the Dream Through Art” Workshop...Join us this Monday!

Express Yourself Studios; located at 1877 Springfield Avenue in Maplewood will host its 5th annual “Celebrate Dr. King: Explore the Dream Through Art” workshop, January 21st . Children ages 4-12 are welcome to learn about Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement through art. Children will create art exploring the themes of Peace, Equality and Friendship.

All participants are asked to bring a canned or boxed non-perishable food item to be donated to the Wallace Chapel Food Pantry (a service of Wallace Chapel Church) in Summit, NJ. The workshop fee is $15, one hour of studio time and all materials included. Join us between 11:00 am – 2:00 pm (on the hour).

Express Yourself Studios Celebrates Black History Month with Several Scheduled Events and Workshops

MAPLEWOOD, NJ, January 14, 2013– Express Yourself Studios located at 1877 Springfield Avenue in Maplewood, NJ has several events slated for Black History Month. The community is invited to take part in one or more of the Studio’s events which kicks-off with the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Events are kid and family-friendly and include the following:

Johnson, and Faith Ringgold). This program is offered as part of Express Yourself’s Studio Saturday offering and is open to children ages 5-12. The Workshop Fee for this event is $15.
