Express Yourself Studios has Several Events Slated for Black History Month

MAPLEWOOD, NJ, February 1, 2011– Express Yourself Studios located at 1912 Springfield Avenue in Maplewood, NJ has several events slated for Black History Month. The community is invited to take part in one or more of the Studio’s events. Events are geared toward families and include the following:

Saturday, February 5, 12, 19, 26 – African American Artists Series
Times: 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm and 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm

Every Saturday during the month of February enjoy a special Black History Month lesson in art exploring a different African-American Master Artists (Jacob Lawrence, Romare Bearden, Charles Alston, Faith Ringgold). This program is offered as part of Express Yourself’s Studio Saturday offering and is open to children ages 5-12.

Thursday, February 24 – African Mask Workshop
Time: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pmA

s part of the Studio’s Pizza & Pottery Workshop, children ages 5-12 will participate in a fun sculpture project creating an African mask that they will embellish with paint.

Express Yourself Studios is an art studio and art gallery dedicated to being an outlet for children and adults to express themselves creatively via classes in arts and crafts. The Studio offers a Summer Art Camp as well as host birthday parties.
