MAPLEWOOD, NJ, June 1, 2009 – Express Yourself Studios located at 1912 Springfield Avenue in Maplewood, NJ has several events slated for the month of June. Essex County residents are invited to take part in one or more of the studios events which kicks-off with the South Orange Maplewood Artist Studio Tour. Events are geared toward adults, families and children and include the following:
Sunday, June 7, 11:00 am - 5:00 pm - South Orange Maplewood Artist Studio Tour
Express Yourself Studios will be part of the South Orange Maplewood Artist Studio Tour www.studiotoursoma.org . This self-guided tour of artist studios and exhibition spaces across both towns includes over 50 painters. The tour offers an opportunity to experience the creative process first hand and view works by emerging and established artists who are invested in their community. Express Yourself Studios will showcase 2 contemporary photographers Allan Wood and Annette Kushen.

Thursday, June 19, 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm – Cocktails & Canvas Workshop
Express Yourself Studios will host another Cocktails & Canvas Workshop with award winning artist Rosalia Verdun. Mrs. Verdun a local New Jersey artist and a member of the Portrait Society of America and the Millburn-Short Hills Art Center will take participants through a landscape exercise. Rosalia’s work can be found in galleries and in private collections throughout the U.S. Currently Mrs. Verdun’s work can be viewed at the ACL Gallery in Livingston and at Express Yourself Studios or by visiting www.rosaliart.com.
Cocktails & Canvas is a night of art and fun for adults, B.Y.O.B if you like, light refreshments and all materials provided, $25 per person.
Summer Art Camp - June 22 - August 28
Express Yourself Studios is pleased to offer a Summer Art Camp (June 22 - August 28) program for children ages 5-12. It's not too late to register. Here are the details:
Age 5-8 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Age 9-12 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Express Yourself Studios Summer Art camp offers children the opportunity to experiment with a variety of media in a fun and supportive environment. Children will be encouraged to use their imagination freely.
Campers will create four art projects per week. The projects will be inspired by a different Master Artist. Children will learn about the Artists through discussions, examples, and art-making. Projects will include painting, drawing, mixed media collage, sculpture, printmaking and paper mache. An exhibition and reception featuring student’s artwork will be held at the conclusion of the week.
