Express Yourself Studios in Maplewood, New Jersey is Looking for Students to Join Their Summer Internship Program


Express Yourself Studios located at 1877 Springfield Avenue in Maplewood is looking for interns to assist with a 9-week Summer Art Workshop that runs from June 25 – August 24. Ideally the Studio is in search of high school juniors/seniors and/or college students looking for a summer internship.

The following provides a description of the role and responsibilities associated with the Internship:

Position Description: Studio Assistant – Summer Art Workshop

Responsibilities: Assist with general studio operations e.g. set-up/clean-up, project preparations, distributing art supplies (paints, pencils, brushes, water-buckets etc.). Assist in the implementation of art instructions to children ages 5-12.

Required skills/qualifications: Punctual, polite, the ability to communicate/interact with children between the ages of 5-12 and their caregivers. Have a general interest in art, not averse to getting dirty, hands-on attitude

Preferred skills/qualifications: Student with a high level of interest in fine art or teaching
Earliest start date: June 25 Latest end date: August 24

Days of the week: Monday - Friday Hours per day/week: 12-15 hours per week

Times of day: 9a- 12p or 1:30p – 4:30p Duration (weeks/months): 3, 6 or 9-weeks

Verification/Stipend: A verification letter and a Staples gift card for school supplies are provided to each participant who successfully completes the internship program.

The email should include a cover letter and resume (or personal statement). Students do not need to commit to the full 9-week session but should be open to committing to a minimum of 3 weeks (the weeks do not need to be consecutive). Additionally, since the Art workshop is offered in half-day sessions, candidates should indicate their time of day preference.
